Update - 27th February 2010
Very exciting month ahead as we stride confidently towards an April 2010 launch. The book will be available via Amazon.com and other Amazon outlets around the world as well as through a few chains of bookstores. The editing is almost complete, we have shortlisted a few authors for the four prizes and the book design will be uploaded onto this site shortly. Details of the ISBN will also be provided on this site.
Details of the new submission round will also be provided with a much shorter time to publication I can reassure you :)
Thank you for everyone's patience and I hope you are all as excited as I am to see all our hard work in print.
Update - 05th January 2010
Happy New Year to all contributors and potential readers!
We are on schedule to publish within the next few months - I hope everyone is as excited as we are.
Update - 11th December 2009
We are officially closed for new submissions! Thank you everyone for sending in your Flash stories, they have been amazing and we have been very impressed by the quality of all of the ones we have recieved.
We will be carry out some administrative duties over the next couple of weeks ensuring every story we have accepted meets the standard we expect from the Elements of Horror Press - so we may be in touch regarding editing or minor alterations to your stories. We may open again temporarily in the New Year if we feel we need to add to any of the subject areas and existing accepted authors are welcome to continue to send in new content for our consideration if they actually want to go for the 4.
We are all very excited about the anthology and we hope you will all enjoy it, as much as we have enjoyed putting it together, when it is published next year.
Watch this space for the next two Elements of Horror anthologies.
Update - 18th November 2009
Apologies for the lack of an update - NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) is in full swing and the editoring team are busy crafting novels which has also slowed down our response time!
Sorry!
Update - 10th October 2009
We are proud to add a few more names to our list of accepted authors:
Vince Darcangelo, Loretta Sylvestre, George Wilhite, Thomas Beck, Dave Erlewine, Doug McIntire, Brian M.Sammons and David Rees-Thomas.
At this point we have 33 authors in the anthology and 45 stories (10 Earth, 13 Air, 13 Water, 9 Fire), I would therefore say we are now at the half-way point.
I have been very pleased with the quality , we have had some fantastic stories so far and many more great ones which I have had to reject because they do not fit the guidelines - containing demons, dragons and ghosts (save those for the Fantasy version we may be doing in the future!).
Update - 1st October 2009
Chris Allinotte has become the third writer to have a story in each element accepted - well done Chris!
Update - 30th September 2009
We currently have accepted over 35 stories for the anthology - the most popular so far being Air with Earth and Water close behind. Fire is really lagging behind but perhaps that is because of a higher rejection rate. (It would help if you guys stopped having demons and dragons pop up - see guidelines :-))
Anyway we are very proud to announce several new names on our featured authors list including: Paula Ray, A J Brown, Bryan Hall, Shane McKenzie, Brian Sammons and Dan Berlinka.
Update - 19th September 2009
We are very happy to announce that both C.D.Reimer and John Morgan have submitted 4 excellent stories each, and have become our first authors to be featured in each of the elements - congratulations to both of you - it has been a pleasure to read your work. Other recently accepted authors include: Ryan Graudin, S.E.Cox, Annemarie Bogart and Daybert Linares (in two elements) - congratulations again to these writers, particular thanks to S.E.Cox and Annemarie for producing some very nice emotive work.
Update - 15th September 2009
Congratulations again to John Morgan who's Air story has also been accepted to complement his Water and Earth stories. Congratulations also go to Peggy Christie and C.D.Reimer, in particular, who is providing a series of linked element stories, the Air and Earth stories having already been accepted.
Update - 9th September 2009
Congratulations to John Morgan, who is the first person to have two stories accepted (Water and Earth). We are also pleased to accept stories from Jason Colavito, Jason Morris and Shenandoah Diaz. We are nearing 100 submissions with 14 acceptances - please keep them coming in!
Update - 1st September 2009
We are pleased to announce our first 10 stories for the anthology have been chosen from submissions by some very talented individuals (see our Featured Authors list). Water so far seems to be the most popular element to write about and a lot of people seem to have issues with baths - aren't they meant to be relaxing? To date we have received over 70 submissions, of these we have accepted 10 with 1 pending a re-write - of these stories we have 1 Earth, 1 Fire, 6 Water and 3 Air; and the themes range from killers with lung fixations to drowning loved ones.
